Jose Antonio Martin, 'Salao', is one of the greatest revelations of flamenco in Catalonia. Exceptional and surprising, he stands out for his creativity, his ability to modulate singing and to be unique in its tessitura. Having performed for dancers in well-known flamenco tablaos such as El Carmen and El Cordobés, and worked in projects of artists such as Joaquin Cortés, Miguel Poveda and Chicuelo, Salao starts a new era with his first album, Jara en el camino, with his own lyrics and others obtained from the literary work Colección de Cantes Flamencos from Antonio Machado y Álvarez (Demófilo). An excellent opportunity to discover a singer who is said to sing in such a traditional and transcendental way, that all the previous flamenco songs become antique.
For the Andalusian, mixtolobo is a German Shepherd crossbred dog, in other words, a non-purebred dog. And this is the essence of crossbreeding that possesses the band led by Juan Diego and Jorge Gomez. One plays the flamenco guitar, the other plays electric guitar. With a wide experience in the flamenco fusion field, they have accompanied artists such as Tomasito, Diego Carrasco,Navajita Plateá, Los Delinqüentes, Raimundo Amador and RadioTarifa. With Cintado Ignacio (bass) and Alejandro Rodriguez (drums), the group presents a repertoire between the electric soleá and seguiriya rock, with captivating melodies and improvisations.
Mixtolobo & Salao offer a repertoire of songs that combine the tradition of flamenco and rock with the rhythm of Jerez. Drums, bass, electric guitar and flamenco guitar will escort the Catalan singer in this new proposal of electric flamenco. An excellent opportunity to discover a singer who is said to sing in such a traditional and transcendental way, that all the previous flamenco songs become antique.
